My hive arrived yesterday, and I'm more confused than ever. :| I'm checking out Linda's Bees (she's lovely!) and I'm reading my beginner's book, but there's just so much to learn! I thought maybe it was a mating ritual because it was one of the few times that when I got close to them a few sort of 'came at me'....they're mostly very docile! That makes sense though about cooling off, because it was one of the hottest days we've had this summer.

Yes, Moose, come over!!! When they move the bees over, it's possible that all that honeycomb will be left behind (I'm still not sure how it works?) and we'll have lots of fun harvesting and preparing the was. Oh wait. Maybe 'fun' is a relative word? ;)

@Michelle ~ I know, right?! I'm so excited about them. But mostly, I'm nervous about them. It seems like there's a lot that can go wrong. But I have to believe, by the way they swooped in and set up shop and generally ignore me, that they know what they're doing. In general, I try to stay out of their way.Mia's Classroomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07760445106454214971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1089584968084859388.post-91097305904914266532010-07-10T00:14:57.585-07:002010-07-10T00:14:57.585-07:00this is SO great!this is SO great!Marcouiller Trimblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09314793332107050346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1089584968084859388.post-66855068715097098672010-07-09T13:45:32.583-07:002010-07-09T13:45:32.583-07:00Blog name change: Mia's Boys and Bees! BTW, the hanging on the outside of the "hive" is called bearding and they do it to cool off the hive. The "Linda's Bees" link on my blog is super informative. I started at the beginning and read the whole thing when I first found it. She is really good at explaining things and she takes tons of pictures.Kellynoreply@blogger.com
